European Markets in Christmas

European Markets in Christmas

Walking through the markets in Europe during Christmas, is among one of the most child-like, fantastical and heart-warming moments. Stalls are decorated with Christmas lights and guarded by friendly zealous locals bringing a sense of welcoming to any passerby.
There are many arts and crafts reflecting the local culture; toys made by children or more intricate pieces made with the utmost talent and intricate detail, created by the villagers. You can take in the wonderful smells of burning chestnuts, freshly baked goods or the permeating smells of smoked sausage and typical foods. Along the path, lined by holiday displays, you can also experience the sounds of typical music and hear the distant ringing of Church Bells. Old friends reconnect in the center of the square to have a hot drink-groups gather to share yearly rituals and families casually walk hand in hand in cheerful bliss. It is a delight for the senses and a sweet reminder that the best things in life are the traditions carried by each culture and the act of sharing them with loved ones.
