The Coffee Region of Colombia

The Coffee Region of Colombia, known as the Eje Cafetero with the epicenter being the Coffee Triangle, is made up of various departments: Caldas, Quindio, Risaralda, southern Antioquia and northern Valle del Cauca.

This is where most of the Colombian coffee- considered by many as the best coffee in the world, is harvested. The Coffee Triangle, nestled in the heart of the Andes Mountains, benefits from this environment where there is altitude, different climate and biodiversity.

Traveling to this beautiful region is an unforgettable and amazing experience; whether you are a coffee lover or not. This part of Colombia is so geographically gifted-  after visiting it,  you will only want to go back again and again. The people are hospitable and friendly, the towns are quaint with its colonial and colorful facades, the mountains are lush some covered with growing beans and others just sprawling with open valleys and magnificent views. The Corcora Valley, in the department of Quindio, is one place where you will encounter nature’s beauty. It is home to the Palma de Cera (Wax Palms) which happens to be Colombia’s national tree and tallest palm in the world. Tall and towering over the valley they create a true sense of mysticism and if you are enjoying the scenic with a cup of coffee you will most definitely be transformed into a state of tranquility.

For those who only have a few hours or days to experience the coffee land, there is Parque del Café-The Coffee Park in Montenegro, Quindio. It is an immense park where you can learn all about the process of coffee making, see the beautiful harvest, enjoy the amusement rides, visit the interactive Museum of coffee or indulge in countless other amazing activities. http://www.parquedelcafe.co/
